Claire Castillo, PhD

Claire Castillo

Claire received her PhD in 2015 from the University of Texas at Austin in the laboratory of Dr. Hitoshi Morikawa, then completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Texas at San Antonio in the laboratory of Dr. Matthew Wanat. She is currently examining the behavioral and electrophysiological roles of noradrenergic input from the nucleus of the solitary tract to the central amygdala under the co-mentorship of Drs. Jeffrey Tasker and Jonathan Fadok.

In general, Claire is interested in how stress-induced changes in catacholaminergic signaling influence behaviors motivated by reward and threat. Outside of lab, Claire enjoys hiking, traveling, and reading.
