Brook Sweeten

Brook received her Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience and Cell, Molecular and Physiological Biology from Christopher Newport University in Newport News, VA in 2014. In 2020 she obtained her Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences From Eastern Virginia Medical School working in the Sleep Research Lab under the mentorship of Dr. Larry Sanford and Dr. Laurie Wellman.

Brook joined the Tasker lab as a Postdoctoral Fellow in July 2020. Here she is working on a VA-funded project investigating GABAergic inhibitory circuits of the BLA and their role in post-traumatic stress disorder as well as fear learning. Brook is also interested in further investigating potential biomarkers and molecular mechanisms important for regulating stress and trauma induced changes in fear neurocircuitry. In her spare time, Brook enjoys knitting, spending time with her dogs, and experiencing all that New Orleans has to offer.
