Tasker has been awarded over 12 million dollars in research funding from local, state and federal agencies, including the National Science Foundation, the National Institutes of Health, and the Veteran’s Administration, and has published nearly 100 research papers, reviews, and book chapters. He was named the Catherine and Hunter Pierson Chair in Neuroscience in 2005, was Chair of the Cell and Molecular Biology Department in 2006-2007, and was Director of the Tulane Neuroscience Program from 2005-2014.
Tasker has received the Tulane University Mortar Board Excellence in Teaching Award four times, the Honor’s Professor of the Year award, and the Science and Engineering Outstanding Researcher award. Tasker has served on several NIH and NSF grant review panels and is currently on the editorial boards of the journals Stress and Steroids and is Associate Editor of Frontiers in Systems Neuroscience. He is also on the Executive Committee of the Tulane Brain Institute.
